1992 Honda Civic CX - Fast Egg at Pomona Raceway

No matter how hard I try, I will always return to making Hondas. Today I present you "Fast Egg", a 1992 Honda Civic CX which was built for drag racing. It's supposed to look like a car that was active in 1998-2003, which also includes the backdrop of Pomona Raceway, a drag strip located in California underneath Mt Baldy.

Why specifically a Civic CX? The CX is the cheapest available Civic that was offered back in the day which came with a D15 making around 70hp mated to an automatic gearbox. It's the perfect base to customize. The lore is that it's got the D15 swapped out for a imported H22A out of a Prelude Type S which has been turbocharged making around 550HP. Before K Swaps became popular, the "big block" Honda engines were all H series motors. While the B series is a good motor all round too, with lots of success in drag racing, the H series usually made more power.

It's supposed to be era correct, so a pissing Calvin was a must.

Originally on this side it was meant to be the Chevy bowtie, but I actually do like Chevys, so I changed it up for Dodge.

It was Imports vs. Domestic back in the day, so having pride in your fast Honda was important.

Most work went into making the scene. I tried to replicate Pomona Raceway from around 1998-2003. The lack of reference photos from specific years made me mix and match elements together.

The start of the project, I knew what I wanted to do, but I didn't feel like setting up more than the wheels and the shaved doors and fenders.

Soon I worked on making the car look a little more like what I was thinking about. Originally the car was meant to stay white, but when playing around with the colors, I landed on the yellow that's on the final version of the Civic.
