1993 Mazda MX-6 - "Bonebreaker GT300 Widebody"

The MX-6 is a platform that means the world to me. One of those random cars that you either really love or you don't feel much for. I feel alot for them and hate the lack of aftermarket there is for them, and how many tasteless widebody kits there are for them. I decided to change that by designing one myself.

The initial idea: "What if RE雨宮 (RE Amemiya) made a GT300 MX-6 back in the day?". I wanted to make a car with a widebody kit, that would be a mix of REA's 98-99 JGTC Race Car and their 97GT Widebody. My goal at first was a full on race car, but my feelings for the project shifted to it being something more of a street car. Then I wanted the car to be made my own imaginary company instead of an already existing one.

So what was my goal? I wanted to create a streetable, race inspired kit for the MX-6 GE5S, with a demo car that would have a similar presence to the Racing Lagoon "Monster R". In order to achieve this, I had to come up with some fake companies that sound legit enough to make sense, and use obscure, yet sporty wheels. The year the car would've been made is around 1999-2000, so I felt like 5zigen/ARD GT Spoke wheels made the most sense.

To make the car stick out a bit more, I decided to use the original bodylines of the front bumper to create a custom reverse hinged clam shell. The vent design of the hood was inspired by the M2 1020 RX-7 (M2 is pre Mazdaspeed, OEM Tuner). The front bumper's design was heavily inspired by the previously mentioned JGTC REA RX-7, mixed with custom elements, such as the bottom air dams directing air to the front brakes. The skirts, rear flares and rear bumper was not based on anything, and the wing was vaguely inspired by a simple ARC 2D Wing. I felt that visually a 3D wing wouldn't have suited the car's shape, and after attempting to use an existing RE Amemiya wing, I wanted to just create my own one.

There is a valve cover peeking through the hood if you didn't see that detail yet.
