After a long break I decided to dust off some of my old projects. This one is special to me as it's a car that I made with it being an Assetto Corsa mod in mind. I've always been interested in the culture surrounding C1 Loop street racing and wanted to have my own car for that purpose. This RX-7 is supposed to be a heavily Porsche influenced car with it's own unique flare (if it wasn't obvious by the color or overall look yet). Back in the day, RX-7s and Skylines were the most dominant cars around the C1. The RX-7 has a crazy varied visual aftermarket which allowed me to get very creative with it. There was no other car I could've picked to do this with really.
I like doing unique modifications to cars, so let me point out a couple of them. Starting off with the front, the front bumper is a TBK bumper that has been modified with new indicators from a Porsche 944. The hood, which is from Scoot (and also is the design used on the 911 GT1 Straßenversion) had it's front air duct removed. The headlights are customized RE Amemiya buckets that instead of the usual IPF lights now house R33 GT-R S1 low beams. The Border front fenders were modified to match the RE Amemiya side skirts and the side markers are off a 964 Carrera. The stock fuel door was replaced with a universal racing style one from Sparco. The rear bumper is a modified RE Amemiya AC987 unit which uses EU Spec C5 Corvette taillights. Usually the bumper has round reverse lights installed. I replaced them in favor of original FD reverse lights/reflectors. The rear wing is a mix of R-Magic and a custom center blade and endplates which were inspired by the 996 GT3 RSR.
As for the interior, I've done a funny thing that RX-7 owners used to do back in the day. I relocated some of the climate controls to the center console in favor of having more gauges in the driver's view. Since this car is supposed to be a circuit car and not a top speed car, I put the speedometer into the radio slot area and got the rev meter, which I rotated to have a better focus on shifting, fuel and boost gauge where the original gauge cluster used to be.
